Biography

Yvette Monginou was a French sprinter and hurdler. Monginou was a five-time national champion, winning three 80 metres hurdles titles (1948–49, 1952), the 100 metres title in 1951, and the 200 metres title in 1953.

Monginou represented France at the 1948 London Olympics and the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. In London she just missed out on a medal finishing in fourth place in the 80 metres hurdles. Monginou was also part of the French 4 × 100 metres relay team but she did not start the event. At the Helsinki Games she competed in the 100 metres, 80 metres hurdles, and the 4 × 100 metres relay. Her best result was reaching the quarter-finals of the 100 metres.

After retiring from athletics Monginou became a PE teacher and founded an athletics club with her husband.

Personal Bests: 100 – 12.3 (1949); 80H – 11.3 (1952).
