Born in Adjohoun, Dahomey (now Benin), Francis Agbo later moved to France where he competed in track and field athletics. Agbo specialised in the high jump and won the ASSU French University title in 1976 with a clearance of 2.08 metres. Representing the Racing Club de France he won both the indoor and outdoor national titles in 1979. The following year Agbo competed at the 1980 Moskva Olympics but finished in a disappointing 17th place with a jump of 2.18 metres.
