Biography

Nearly all of Ron Unswoth’s high hurdle successes came during his time at Manchester University. He regularly competed for both Manchester and England Universities in representative matches. Unsworth’s best moments were in winning the 440 yards hurdles at both the Northern Counties and Universities Athletic Union (UAU) Championships in 1948. He never won a AAAs title, with a fifth place in 1949 being his best finish. Unsworth also occasionally raced on the flat, and played rugby for Manchester University.
