Biography
Javelin thrower Ute Richter finished an unfortunate fourth at the 1980 Moskva Olympics only 2 cm behind her teammate Ute Hommola. She also came in fourth at the 1978 Europeans and fifth four years later. In East Germany she won the 1982 national title, and was runner-up in 1977 and 1978. She was educated as a motor vehicle mechanic.
