Biography

East German Jürgen Eberding took part in the marathon at the 1978 European Championships (8th), the 1983 World Championships (28th) and the 1980 Moscow Olympics (21st), although he never managed to win a national title. After graduating with qualifications as a sports teacher, he became a coach with the GDR national team until German reunification. Afterwards he was a trainer at his hometown club of SC Magdeburg. He married non-Olympian sprinter Karla Bading.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-12:13 (1980).
