East German marathon runner Manfred Naumann came in 39th at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics with the mixed German team. He never won an East German title. Neumann married non-Olympian 800 runner Judith Mai in 1958, and later became a sports administrator and was a member of the GDR miles committee and president of the miles committee in the Karl-Marx-Stadt district.
