Biography

Sports teacher and decathlete Siegfried Stark finished sixth in the 1976 Montréal decathlon and retired four years later in Moskva after the long jump due to an injury. He won the bronze medal at the European Championships in both 1978 and 1982. He also won the 1976-77 East German Championships, and was second in 1981-82, and third in 1974-75. After German reunification Stark became a decathlon coach in Austria for four years and then owned a fitness and sports studio in Ratzeburg. He also coached his home club in Ratzeburg.
