Biography

Frank Wartenberg married middle distance runner Christiane Stoll-Wartenberg, and their daughter, Anne Wartenberg, became a 400 and 800 runner. Frank Wartenberg was a long jumper, winning bronze at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. He was fifth the 1977 World Cup, and placed 12th at the 1974 Europeans. He also competed at the European Indoors in 1974 (eighth) and 1977 (fifth). Nationally Wartenberg was East German indoor champion in 1974, winning outdoors in 1976.

By profession Wartenberg worked as a sports teacher. After reunification he was employed by the municipality of Wittenberg. After German reunification his name was found in the documents concerning systematic doping abuse in the former GDR.
