Biography

Gudrun Abt won the German 400 m hurdles championship from 1986-88 and bettered the German Record three times in 1988, improving it to 54.04. She also took part in the 1987 and 1991 World Championships and in the 1982 and 1990 European Championships, placing fourth in 1990 as her best result in an individual event. She was the leading West German 400 m hurdler during the late 1980s, placed sixth at the 1988 Seoul Olympics over the hurdles and fourth with the 4x400 metres relay, and retired one year prior to the Barcelona Olympic Games as she was continuing her education as a child care worker.

Personal Bests: 400 – 52.22 (1988); 400H – 54.04 (1988).
