Biography

Long jumper Christa Striezel failed to reach the final at the 1976 Montréal Olympics with her best attempt of 6.09. She finished seventh at the 1971 Europeans and was second at the 1975 and 1977 European Cups. In 1975 and 1977 Striezel won West German national titles.

In 1977 Striezel was awarded the Hermann Seiffart Memorial Award. She married high jumper and non-Olympian Wolfgang Striezel. After her active career Christa Striezel collaborated with her husband Wolfgang as a coach for MTV Hanstedt. Their son Stephan became a 400 metre runner and 400 hurdler.
