Dimas Filgueiras Filho, simply known as Dimas, had a lengthy career in domestic football in Brazil as both a player and a manager, spending 46 years with Ceará. Dimas first joined Botafogo in 1963 where he played with the side until 1970. This was followed by a brief spell with Fortaleza before he joined Ceará in 1972, staying with the club until 1976. Dimas played in more than 130 matches for Ceará, winning the state championship in 1975 and 1976.
Dimas played in three matches for Brazil in their qualification campaign for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in a tournament in Peru. Despite playing in the qualifying matches against Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador, he did not play in any of the matches at the Tokyo Games.
After his retirement as a player Dimas managed Ceará on more than a dozen separate occasions from 1991 until 2013, often in the role as their caretaker manager. Under his leadership Ceará qualified for the 1995 Copa CONMEBOL and the 2011 Copa Sudamericana tournaments.
