Biography

Jan Everse played for a host of clubs in the Rotterdam area, notably Neptunus, Xerxes and professionaly for BVC Rotterdam (which later merged with Den Haag ‘54 to become Holland Sport), DFC and Emma. A defender, he was selected for the 1948 Olympics, but did not play. He made his national team début the following year, playing a total of three friendlies. Everse’s son, Jan Jr. would also become a successful professional footballer, playing for Feyenoord and Ajax, winning two caps, and later coaching pro teams Zwolle and Heerenveen.
