Biography

Left forward Li Guowei had his first major appearance in 1933 with the Hong Kong team which lost to Shanghai in the semi-final of the Fifth National Game. He started to play for the South China Athletic Association in the 1933-34 season. Later that year, he represented China at the Far Eastern Games. In 1935, Li won the championship at the Sixth National Games with the Hong Kong team. For the 1936 Berlin Olympics, he was selected for the Chinese team as a substitute for Chen Zhenhe. After the Sino-Japanese War he returned to the field, playing for the Hong Kong team at the 7th National Games in 1948, then as a left back.
