Biography

Knut Nilsson played his entire career from 1902-23 for AIK Stockholm (now AIK Solna), first as a forward and later as a midfielder. For many years he also acted as team captain and shaped the style of the team. Nilsson led AIK to three Swedish cup championships in 1911, 1914, and 1916. He also discovered a number of talents for his club including 1912 Olympian Helge Ekroth. In 1928, he was awarded the “Stor Grabb” badge in football.

Nilsson represented Sweden regularly in nine international friendlies from 1911-15 and captained the team five times. He was, however, an unused reserve of the Swedish team at the 1912 Olympic Games. In addition to football, Nilsson also captained the AIK team in bandy and won the Swedish championship in 1914. Moreover, he represented AIK in cross-country skiing.

He was married to Elly Alfrida Vilhelmina Carlsson and was a postal worker.
