At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, he was a reserve player as a 17-year-old but was not used. Later he was to win two caps in 1914 and 1919, both in away friendlies against Sweden. In his second sport, bandy, Schybergson played five games with the Finnish national team including their first ever international encounter in 1919 against Sweden.
