Throughout the 1960s and 1970s François Meyvaert was the goalkeeper of the Belgian field hockey team La Gantoise in Gent. Meyvaert was part of the team that won four national indoor titles and reached the final of the Belgian Cup. His strong domestic performances earned him a call-up to the national team, again playing in goal in both indoor and outdoor matches. He was selected for Belgium’s squad for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, but he did not play in any matches.
