Biography

Besides his Olympic Competition in 1968, when he faild the qualification round, Lutz Caspers took part in the 1971 European Championships in the hammer but failed to record a fair throw in the final. In 1969 he was nominated for the same competition but West Germany boycotted it. He never managed to win a national title. He was also active as a discus thrower and a shot putter and took part in several German Senior Championships, setting several senior records. Caspers was educated as an industrial businessman. His son Frank also became a nationally successful hammer thrower.

Personal Best: HT – 73.08 (1972).
