Biography

Steeplechaser Hans Hüneke won the bronze medal at the 1958 European Championships, but had to withdraw from the final at the 1960 Rome Olympics due to an injury. He managed to win three West German titles, over 3x1000 m in 1958, in the steeplechase in 1959, and in cross-country in 1965.

Hüneke was educated as a baker. When he retired he started another career as a skat player, one of the most famous card games in Germany.

Personal Best: 3000S – 8:37.4 (1958).
