Biography

Running the opening leg at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, sprinter Lothar Knörzer earned a bronze medal with the sprint relay together with Leo Pohl, Heinz Fütterer and Manfred Germar, for which he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1957. Domestically Knörzer won the West German title with the Karlsruher SC sprint relay team in 1955. Knörzer was educated as a wholesale businessman and worked for 40 years at the Karlsruher Insurance Company.
