Biography

German high jumper and decathlete Wilhelm Ladewig finished fifth in the 1934 European Championships high jump and 10th in the 1928 Olympic decathlon. At the World University Games he won four medals, two in the high jump (1928 silver, 1930 bronze), and another two in pentathlon (1928 silver, 1930 bronze). In 1934 Ladewig won his only German title in high jump. He was educated as a graduate gymnastics and sports teacher, and worked at a gymnasium in Düsseldorf from 1948-72, where he eventually became the principal.
