Hans Liesche won a silver medal at the 1912 Stockholm Olympic Games in the high jump, 2 cm behind winner Alma Richards. Liesche also earned German titles in 1911-13 and 1915, and was runner-up in 1918. When Hans Liesche died in 1979, he was the last surviving German Olympian from 1912. His brother Carl (1887-1957) was a member of the German Olympic gymnastics team for the 1908 London Games but did not start.
