Biography

Wilfried Wesch, race walker, came in 16th at the 1972 München Olympic Games over 20 km. At the 1970 Europeans he finished 20th. In 1971 he earned two German titles indoors over 10 km and outdoors over 20 km. During the 1970s he lived in London and worked as a hotel director.

After the end of his race walking career, Wesch was a board member of the German Tennis Association responsible for regulating rules and refereeing. During these times he spent three years as a referee on the ATP Tour and as head judge at all major German tournaments and the Davis Cup.

Personal Best: 20kmW – 1-28:05 (1972).
