Biography

Georgios Grigoriou was a Greek distance runner who specialised in the marathon. In February 1896 the Greek National Gymnastics Association held a test event on the marathon course that would be used at the Olympic Games, which Grigoriou won. In the following month Grigoriou finished in fifth place at the first edition of the Panhellenic Games, which were used as qualification for the Olympics. In April 1896 he ran in the marathon at the Athína Olympics but failed to finish the course.
