Biography
Ilias Kafetzis represented Chalandri and was one of many Greek athletes to run in the marathon at the 1896 Athína Olympics. He did not finish the race, dropping out of the event at around the 9km mark. Kafetzis had qualified for the event by finishing fourth in the second of two Greek trial races, held on 24 March.
