Biography

Stamatios Masouris was a Greek distance runner who represented Amarousi. Masouris was one of the 17 men who competed in the marathon at the 1896 Athína Olympics. Originally deemed to have finished in ninth, he was upgraded to eighth place after it had emerged that Spyridon Belokas had taken a carriage for a short part of the race. Masouris was chosen to run the 1896 marathon after finishing sixth in a Greek trial race held on 24 March 1896.
