Biography

Derna Polazzo was an Italian basketball player and sprinter. She was among the pioneers of the Italian women’s basketball team, playing for them in their first international match.

Polazzo competed at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, running the 100 metres and the 4x100 relay. Polazzo was capped 3 times for Italy from 1928-30. Domestically, she won one Italian title, in 1928 in Bologna, in the long jump (5.05, national record) and was also an Italian record holder in the 100 (13.0, 1928) and 200 (28.0, 1929).
