Biography

Alfredo Furia was an Italian middle-distance runner of the 1930s who specialized in the steeplechase. He ran his first steeplechase on 28 March 1932, in Genova, on the occasion of the Italian Championships, where he battled Giuseppe Lippi and Nello Bartolini. The title went to Bartolini, who won and set a national record, beating Furia by five seconds. Furia won the 1933 Italian title at 1,500 metres, in the absence of Luigi Beccali. He was also third in 1934 in the Italian steeplechase championship, again behind Bartolini.
