Biography

Gebhard Büchel represented Liechtenstein internationally in the decathlon after World War II, with his first major appearance coming at the 1946 European Championships, where he placed in the bottom three for all events except for the javelin throw (in which he recorded the third-best result) and withdrew before the final event, the 1500 metres. His next stop was the 1948 Summer Olympics, where he competed in the 100 metres, long jump, shot put, and high jump before retiring from the tournament. By the time of the 1954 European Championships, he had limited himself to the javelin throw and was eliminated in the qualification round for that event. He retired from active competition shortly thereafter.

Personal Best: Dec – 4340* (1946).
