Biography

After starting out with a love of painting Michel Medinger then moved into photography in the early 1960s. Medinger then spent the rest of his life as a prolific photographer with his work exhibited around the globe, including France, China, Japan, and the United States. The Galerie Clairefontaine in his native Luxembourg also held several exhibitions of his photographs, with the celebrated photography festival Rencontres d’Arles in France showcasing his work in 2025.

Medinger was also a track and field athlete in his younger days. In 1964 he was selected to represent Luxembourg at the Tokyo Olympics where he ran in the 800 and 1,500 metres. His father had previously ran in the 5,000 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:49.0 (1967); 1500 – 3:51.0 (1970).
