Mexican track and field athlete Enrique Sánchez specialised as a sprinter and a hurdler. Sánchez initially started out competing in the 200 metres, with him running in the race at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. Two years later he won his first national title, taking gold in the race at the Mexican Athletics Championships. He then moved up to running in 400 metres races, becoming the Mexican champion in the 400 metres (1935, 1937) and the 400 metres hurdles (1935–36, 1938, 1941, 1947). Sánchez was also part of the quartet that won silver in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games.
