Biography

On the island of Malta Alfred Bencini competed in sports before he joined the police to eventually become the commissioner of the force. As the local champion in the 100 metres he was selected to compete in the event at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. By 1939 Bencini had stopped his sporting career to join the police force where he started out as an inspector.
