Biography

Small forward Jürgen Wohlers was on the West German basketball team at the 1972 München Olympics. The team lost both the classification match for places 9-12 against Australia by only one point (70-69), and also lost the 11th place match by one point against Spain (84-83). Wohlers earned 174 international caps, which was a national record at the time. Domestically, he played with MTV Wolfenbüttel (1966-69 and after 1970) and USC München (1969-70). Wohlers helped Wolfenbüttel win the West German Cup in 1972. His children Viktoria and Moritz also became basketball players.
