Gien de Kock was a Dutch all-round track and field athlete who specialised in the shot put and javelin throw. During the 1930s De Kock won eleven national titles, two English titles, and set three Dutch records. Her first Dutch title came in 1931 with victory in the shot put before winning three consecutive titles in the event from 1933 to 1935. She also won five titles in the javelin throw (1932–34, 1936–37) and two in the pentathlon (1935–36). In 1933 De Kock competed at the AAA Championships in England where she won the shot put and the javelin titles. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, however, she only competed in the javelin, where she finished a disappointing eighth.
