Arie Vosbergen was a Dutch track and field athlete who competed in middle and long distance running events. In 1908 Vosbergen was one of many Dutch athletes selected to participate at the London Olympics where he ran in the heats of the 800 metres and the 1,500 metres. He also ran in the marathon but dropped out of the race after 14 miles. He persevered with distance running for several years, eventually becoming the national champion in the 10,000 metres in 1914. Tragically Vosbergen was only 36-years-old when he died in November 1918 from the Spanish flu.
