Biography

Franz Barta was an Austrian bantamweight boxer who lost his first-round bout at the 1924 Paris Olympics to Belgian François Sybille. Barta boxed with SK Rapid Wien (Vienna). It is unknown how he qualified for the Games and whether he had any success nationally.

Birth date previously incorrectly given as 18 November 1902. Another Franz Barta was an active wrestler in Graz around the same time as the boxer, but they were two different people.
