Biography

Zofia Walasek was a middle-distance runner. In 1960, she set two national records in the 800 metres. In the same year, she also represented Poland at the 1960 Roma Olympics. Walasek represented Poland a total of five times in international competitions. At the national Polish championships, she won medals in the 400 metres and cross-country events.

After her athletics career, Walasek became a trainer in Katowice, coaching future Olympians Jolanta Janota and Joanna Smolarek.

Personal Best: 800 – 2:08.3 (1960).
