Biography
Robert W “Bertie” Harris was from Aliwal North in central South Africa, a town situated on the banks of the Orange River. Harris competed in the marathon at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics but he did not finish the race. Len Taunyane and Jan Mashiani also represented South Africa in the event, with both being Tswana Tribesmen.
