Biography

At the 1912 AAA Championships held in London it was the South African sprinter George Patching who won the 100 yards dash, in a time of 9.8 seconds. A month later Patching represented South Africa in three sprint races at the 1912 London Olympics. His best performance came in the 100 metres where he finished in fourth place, just a tenth of a second outside of the medals. Patching also ran in the 200 metres and the 400 metres, reaching the semi-finals in both events.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.8 (1912); 200 – 21.9y (1913); 400 – 48.7y (1910).
