Biography

Edgar Friedli was a Swiss long-distance runner who specialised in the 10,000 metres. Friedli set several national records in both the 10,000 metres and the marathon during his career, and was a two-time Swiss champion in the former (1961, 1966). In 1968 he was selected to run in the marathon at the Mexico City Olympics but he did not finish the course. In addition to victories on the track, he also won the Murten-Fribourg race in 1964 and the 1976 Athens Marathon.
