Biography

Axel Hedenlund had a very short career, clearing 1.80 indoors in December 1907 as a virtual unknown, which bettered the Swedish national record. Two-and-half-months later he jumped 1.82 indoors to break the Scandinavian record. Before entering the 1908 Olympics Hedenlund competed at the British AAA Meet, finishing second to Con Leahy. After the Olympics Hedenlund won the Swedish national title. He competed for a few more years, but never again approached the heights he reached in 1907-08.
