Biography

Georg Högström was primarily a successful pole vaulter. He won the national title in 1918 and 1919, and also the English open AAA Championship in 1919 as well as the Scandinavian triangular event. In 1918 his 3.80 mark was the world leading performance. Högström also excelled at the high jump, winning the national title in 1918, and clearing 1.902 that season in his regional title meet, beating his previous best by four centimetres, a mark which placed him second on the year´s world list. Högström mostly competed in both the high jump and pole vault at meets. He later became a bank executive.
