Swedish track and field athlete Gunnar Jansson was a multiple national champion in the hammer throw and weight throw events in the 1930s. Jansson won his first national title in 1929 with victory in the weight throw. He went on to dominate the event in Sweden for the next decade, winning a further seven titles (1930–31, 1933–35, 1937–38), along with five titles in the hammer throw (1931, 1933–35, 1937). He competed in the hammer throw at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics where he came seventh with a best effort of 47.79 metres. Two years later he won bronze in the event at the 1934 European Athletics Championships in Torino. Jansson made his second appearance at the Olympics at the 1936 Berlin Games, finishing 12th with a best throw of 49.28 metres.
