Biography

Åke Jansson was a Swedish distance runner who represented Spånga IS in Stockholm. Jansson specialised in the 1,500 metres and won three national titles in the event (1938–39, 1942), along with a silver (1937) and a bronze (1943). He was also the Swedish champion in the 5,000 metres in 1936. Jansson ran in the 5,000 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he finished sixth in his heat with only the top-five athletes progressing to the final.

Personal Best: 5000 – 14:40.2 (1941).
