Biography

Gustaf Malmsten was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed in the standing long jump. Malmsten won the Swedish title in the event at the 1912 championships as well as winning silver in 1911 and 1913. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he narrowly missed out on a medal after finishing in fourth place. The best three athletes from the qualifying rounds advanced to the final with Malmsten finishing just eight centimetres behind the next best-placed athlete when Ben Adams jumped 3.28 metres.
