Biography

Lennox Stewart was a middle-distance runner who competed in the 800 metres at the 1972 München Olympics and at the 1971 Pan American Games. His greatest career accomplishment came at the Melrose Games when he defeated top American miler, Marty Liquori.

Stewart attended Brevard College in North Carolina but transferred to the University of North Carolina, where he received an education degree in 1973. His son, Jesse, became a footballer on the Trinidad & Tobago national team and also a top Soca artist, known as College Boy Jesse, who won the Groovy Soca Monarch in 2020 with his hit “Happy Song”.
