Biography

After placing fifth in the individual 400m at the 1972 Olympics, the 17-year-old Mable Fergerson of Pomona High School and the West Coast Jets ran a 51.8 lead-off leg in the 1,600m relay. In addition to her Olympic success, she won the AAU 400m in 1971 and in 1973 she won both the 220y and 440y. Her sister, Willomae, was also a nationally ranked sprinter.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.5 (1971); 200 – 23.3 (1973); 400 – 51.91 (1972).
