Biography

Better known as a 200 m runner prior to the Olympics, Pam Jiles was a surprise choice for the 4x400 m relay, but a 51.3 leg in the final fully justified her selection. She ran for Dillard University, the New Orleans Super Dames, and later for LSU. She never won an AAU title, but was the 100 m champion at the 1975 Pan American Games where she also finished second in the 200 m and was on the winning 4x100 metres relay team. Jiles was world ranked #6 in the 100 and #4 in the 200 in 1975.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.31 (1976); 200 – 22.81 (1975); 400 – 52.64 (1977).
