Biography

A middle distance runner for the University of Tennessee and Team adidas, Missy Kane won a bronze medal in the 1,500 at the 1983 Pan American Games. She also competed that year at the Universiade, finishing sixth in the 1,500. She was married for a time to former distance runner Phil Kane and later became a college track coach and television sportscaster. She has become a fitness expert who has her own televised fitness show on local Tennessee stations, and works as a health promotions coordinator for Covenant Health in Oak Ridge. She has also coached the distance runners at the Univ. of Tennessee and in 1996, was inducted into the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame.

Personal Bests: 800 – 2:05.47 (1984); 1500 – 4:06.47 (1984); Mile – 4:36.6 (1985); 3000 – 9:07.91 (1987); 5000 – 16:08.21 (1987).
