Biography

After graduating from Prairie View A&M in 1974, Debra Sapenter enrolled as a graduate student at Northwestern. At the 1976 Olympics she made the final of the 400 m, finishing in eighth place, but got a well-deserved medal in the relay after a 51.8 lead-off stage. She won the AAU 440 y in 1974, the 400 m in 1975, and won two silver medals at the 1975 Pan American Games in 400 m and 4×400 m (with Kathy Weston and the non-Olympians Sharon Dabney and Pat Helms).

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.8 (1974); 200 – 23.52 (1976); 400 – 51.23 (1976).
