Biography

Erica Wheeler was a javelin thrower who competed at Stanford, graduating in 1989. She competed at the 1996 Olympics, the 1997 World Championships, and the 2003 Pan American Games. Wheeler had a long career at the national and international level, competing from 1985-2004. She was USA Champion in 2003, and runner-up in 1997 and 2001, and placed third at nationals in 1993, 1995, and 2002. Wheeler was the 1985 USA Junior Champion and the 1990 Olympic Festival Champion. Other major titles included the 2004 Kansas Relays and the 2003 Mt. SAC Meet. Wheeler later worked as an assistant coach at the The Ohio State University and at Cal State Chico, coaching the throwers, and as a throws coach for the US Paralympic team.
